2026 University of Mississippi Voting Summit
"[toward] a more Perfect union
250 Years of Voting Rights in the U.S.”
 

Oxford - America to the Ballot Box  is honored to be working with the University of MIssissippi Voter Engaement Roundtable  Voting Ambassadors,  Andrew Goodman Foundation UM Chapter , and other campus and community groups. ​The summit is an event of the Center for Community Engagement.

In recognition of the nation’s 250th anniversary, tthe 2026 Voting Summit seeks to educate, inspire, and inform the LOU community by examining Mississippi’s pivotal role in the ongoing fight for voting rights and democratic participation. Through a week of interactive programming, we aim to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the United States to present-day conversations about civic engagement and access to the ballot.

Featuring a documentary screening and discussion, a voting rights–themed trivia night, a keynote address from social media star Brett "Papa Mississippi" Kenyon, and an experiential learning trip to historic Philadelphia, Mississippi, Voting Summit Week invites community members to reflect on the past while engaging the future of our democracy.

The Summit
 will culminate with an epic bus trip from Oxford to Philadelphia, MS, site of the murders of Civil Rights Activists James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and  Michael “Mickey” Schwerner.

All events are free with the exception of the bus trip. This specal event requires a $25. fee that includes lunch. Scholarships are available to ensure all are able to participate.  Register here
